Session got

I've now -been- to the local Irish music session. (after two weeks in which it was apparently cancelled, one of which we got advance warning about from the site, and one week in which we were cross-scheduled but was also the first time I got independent verification that it was actually happening as we passed it going on and heard music happening). And it was really fun, although I am NOT used to mostly playing harp for 3 hours straight. There were six performers including me when I arrived, and after around an hour the group swelled to around 12 or so. I brought a violin and a harp, but there were very few non-song tunes I knew and people really appreciated having the harp going so I played more on the harp; online advice on session ettiquite caution against playing harmony on harp when there are also playing harmony on guitar, but while I did try to avoid clashing with the guitars when there were multiple guitars, it didn't seem to be a problem so I played a lot of harp. (and boy are my fingers sore?)

But also, it was inside so I guess the semi-outside place is closed for the winter, maybe? Or at least until they get more warm things there or the bar gets more crowded? (it's a covered courtyard space, not the street, so they can legally continue to use it). And apparently the venue is moving the session to Sunday? Will have to see.

Other thing about this particular session is that it's three blocks from my apartment so I could just hand-carry a harp (and get drcpunk to carry the fiddle) to get there rather than worrying about "bags" or "transportation".

Thanks! It was amusing -- I was doing all trad accompanyments...except for one bluegrass tune, and one song by one of the night's anchors, which was all jazzy and (invited explicitly to accompany) got me doing a lot of 7 chords and the like, which was a nice shift!

Myself has not been doing the 音乐 thing too much, ah well. Trying to get into watching programs, it goes ok, but pretty much medical info 和 musica is about the best I can digest, ahahaha!
