Halloween: Reverse Trick or Treating

So,
drcpunk and I got a 5lb bag of candy, but our building doesn't generally get trick-or-treaters.
So instead, we went out "reverse trick or treating" -- no costumes (not this year, anyway), but with a huge bag of candy, stoping obvious trick or treat-ers and giving them candy.
But...we didn't really have time to do that all evening -- we needed to get dinner from a restaurant and shop for groceries.
Fortunately, we're still living in NYC, and NYC still has outdoor seating for restaurants AND it's still set up even this late into the fall. We grabbed an outdoor table at Dawa's, a Sunnyside favorite, and proceeded to give out the bulk of our 5lb of candy over the course of a 1.5 hour meal. (it helps that Skillman has a custom of store-owners stocking up candy to give out to trick-or-treators, so they were already walking that avenue looking for sweets). The restaurant was super happy with watching us give out candy (and in fact gave us some of their supply to make it easier to give away their candy as well), and the kids and parents were happy too!
As long as NYC continues to have liberal on-street restaurant service, this might be an excellent model for a short but instense Halloween experience. Stock up on a candy to give out of your choice, grab a spot at an on-sidewalk restaurant, and flag over costumed or otherwise bag-holding kids to give out candy -- delightful, pretty intense, and if you run out of steam or candy, just stop doing it!
