Date: 2004-09-29 07:56 am (UTC)I didn't think Miéville -did- try to explain his world; he just showed more of it, with different Wierd Science. I did find the protagonists, if anything, less likable than in the first novel, but found the plot more coherent; you win some, you lose some.
