The con went very well.

I spent Thursday evening at Harold and Becky Feld's, with [livejournal.com profile] nrivkis -- in theory, this could have meant an earlly arrival to the con, but with me getting nrivkis's babysitting dutues since she was going house-hunting, I arrived, with Becky, at around 8:30pm. Still, the evening was entertaining enough -- we held down the fort on Harold's "no yacking" circle, which was curiously unattended, given that it's "theme" wasn't dissimilar from the way most circles run until they devolve into non-filk activity for an extended period. Still, [livejournal.com profile] drsnark joined us once he arrived at the con, so we had a nicely small circle for an hour or so. After that, the room cleared out, things being pretty quiet all through, and I filked in the main room until 2AM, when I decided to follow [livejournal.com profile] nrivkis's lead in turning in, which, it turned out, was less necessary than I thought, but still probably useful. Osmewhere in here, I had some of an excelent blackberry cordial that <lj site="livejournal.com" user="aiglet"> prepared
Saturday, I woke <lj site="livejournal.com" user="nrivkis"> by singing in the shower (oops -- sorry about that), and headed out to Sunday's harp workshop, which <nrivkis had="had" thought="thought" was="was" saturday="Saturday" and="and" i="I" hadn't="hadn't" checked.="checked." having="Having" quickly="quickly" discovered="discovered" my="my" mistake,="mistake," i="I" went="went" back="back" to="to" the="the" room="room" (slowly,="(slowly," of="of" course)="course)" and="and" rousted="rousted" nrivkis,="Nrivkis," who="who" was="was" feeling="feeling" peckish,="peckish," as="as" was="was" i,="I," so="so" we="we" made="made" lunchplans="lunchplans" with="with" <lj="<lj" site="livejournal.com" user="moviebear">. Nrivkis and Moviebear seemed to hit it off, which was kind of nice, since Nrivkis is moving to the DC area, but the diner we went to was farther away than we anticipated, so we got back in the middle of the Lady Mondegreen (the group) concert, instead of somewhat before. But the concert was a blast, and I'll have photos of it, though mostly not of anything else.
Then stayed for the immediately following concerts -- <lj site="livejournal.com" user="drsnark">'s, and the combined <lj site="livejournal.com" user="cflute"> and Bob Esty concert (originally scheduled as two concerts). That one ended a bit early -- Bob didn't realize that as Toastmaster, he'd been scheduled for an hour slot on top of Cflute's 30 minute slot. But that gave some time to rest before <lj site="livejournal.com" user="bersilacslady">'s birthday foo. The foo was small -- just <lj site="livejournal.com" user="bersilacslady">, Nrivkis, DRsnark and me, but was fun anyway; we had dinner, though I took most of mine home.
Then I tried to aboid the late concerts (not because I disliked the performers, but because I was feeling a bit concerted out), but found myslef pretty much unable to do so -- unlike a lot of recent filk cons, which had side bits of gaming in the con suite, this was very single track, with 75 people packed into the concert rooms and few outside it. So I mostly enjoyed the concerts instead, though I listened to much of Chris Malme's from the con suite.
Then I filked for a bit over an hour in the SCA theme filk, which was greatly helped by being opposite the Interfilk Auction; for the most part, <lj site="livejournal.com" user="cflute">, Yaakov (I mean, Harold Feld), I, and someone else (I don't remember) traded off, but there were easily enough other contributuions to keep things interesting. But after a while, I was pulled from there into <lj site="livejournal.com" user="Aiglet"> (who was feeling unwell during the first foo, but quicly recovered) <lj site="livejournal.com" user="bersilacslady"> birthday foo, which involved a LadyMondegreen screening (a
llowing me to prove my ingenuity and see the earlier part of the concert), vanilla ice cream, and the blackberries from the cordial Aiglet had made, which was a very nice treat.
After that, well...lots more filking -- I didn't perform much this time -- it was a very crowded filk, and enough people were doing a -bit- more than their to make it worse, but I did a lot of drum accompanyment and slipped in<lj site="livejournal.com" user="avramgrumer">'s "and the band played appropriate music" as a delayed follower to Chris Malme's "And the Crowd sang Waltzing Matilda" as well as an immediate follower to Kathy Sands doing the song comparing different filker's lovemaking styles.
And later I finished up "Show Them All Yourself" (well, that's the working title), and performed it, getting a god number of laughs in the right places.
Of course, after the filk started to empty out, I did a bit more stuff, untill eventually, we were thrown out of the filk room, I did Leslie in the lobby and the desk clerk objected, we went up to the empty children's den and filked for another hour. The breakfast crew consisted of Ben Newman, two more filkers who ben knows better than I do, Catherine, and her son, with an honorable mention to <lj site="livejournal.com" user="storychaser"> who left when we left the lobby, but was still up when we stopped filking in the filk room.
Sunday Morning (barely), I got up, scooted into the harp workshop, left long enough to check out, then came back, and mostly listened, since it was a bit below my level, but fun anyway, and I got a chance to let Bob Esty try out my harp, and play around with most of the five harps there that weren't Caliope (my harp, that is). I don't think I'd gotten a chance to play with a wire harp before, at least since I had some idea how to play.
Then I hung out for a bit, listened to some of the song contest and the one-shots, and started scrambling to figure out how I was handling my return. I really wanted to make the "closing jam", but with the confusion, it didn't really happen, so I spent time hanging out with friends instead, saying goodbye, etc, until I reluctantly told the hotel worker to take me to the metro, and that to the Amtrak station.
The trai was an hour delayed (we were stopped on the tracks), but I should be in the City (gods willing) at 10:45.
Thank you, everyone who made Concertino a good con! (and for most of you, next time at Noreastcon!)
