Conflikt: Our Hat Band

Hat Band 1 was myself, [livejournal.com profile] figmo, [livejournal.com profile] tsukara, and [livejournal.com profile] nicachick007 doing Come Ye Knights, by Sheila Willis (1/3 of Technical Difficulties, which recorded it) -- it's the source song for Dairy Queen (by Barbara Higgins). What was really cool was that neither [livejournal.com profile] tsukara nor [livejournal.com profile] nicachick007 knew the song before the weekend; we had issues meeting at any time before the open filk, and nobody was really pushing a song, so I suggested Come Ye Knights because I'd been thinking of performing it anyway after Stephen Joel mentioned that nobody does it any more at his presentation, and it dawned on me that if I was going to do it, and had a band, I might as well, you know, do it -right-. So I transcribed the lyrics from the music (I happened to have both TD tapes on my media player), [livejournal.com profile] figmo and I, who actually knew the tune, worked out harmonies (well, did enough rehearsal work to work out harmonies that didn't collide much with one another), and traded ideas until we had something workable, while [livejournal.com profile] tsukara and [livejournal.com profile] nicachick007? Learned the tune, from scratch, listening to it multiple times when they -could- have been, you know, sleeping or whatever.
Doing things acapella as basically a group decision -- we started out thinking we could add guitar, maybe drums...but really...why?
And the result?
SO MUCH FUN.
I should have been all autocratic and stuff and given us a name on stage, though. Probably the Time Knights or something silly like that.

[edit: replaced "I have no idea who these people were" with [livejournal.com profile] tsukara and [livejournal.com profile] nicachick007, since that ain't true no more]

You guys seriously were great. It felt as though you'd been doing it for months with a written score and musical director. Accapulco was definately the way to go!!

You're so cute when you're being autocratic. The time twins were Jovanie Seghers-Narvaez and her friend ... (Amy Ahomen)?

The friend's name was Anne. I don't remember her last name.

Oh yeah -- I had fun too! :-)

By chance, did anyone record this?? :) I want to hear it. (Besides, I have a partial lead on Sheila Willis that I really need to follow up on.)

Yes, I did multi-track recordings of all of the Concerts, Two-fers, One-shots, and the Band Scramble.

I plan to make the recordings available by Web--locked until I get permission from the performers to make them public.

But it is going to take a while to get through all of them.

Wow! Yeah, I want to hear it too, dear. :-) Sounds like lots of busy fun while I was sitting at home being an absolute lump of owie. Good news is my legs feel like legs again today, so that's two days in a row! ;-) Will you be at Boskone? I can't remember if I already asked...
(what can I say, I want a pre-birthday hug. ;-)

*bounces in* Hello there, I'm one half of the duo, and this is my LJ handle. :D

This is Jovanie, and my "twin" (that made me laugh so hard) is tsukara. I would do the cool little hotlink-y thing but I don't know how. Don't know if she wants her whole name splattered away on the internet but you can ask her yourself if you feel so inclined. But it's easier to remember than mine, which is why it surprises me that you don't remember it, but we had a great time.
