Updates and stuff

I haven't posted for a while (bad me. Too much backlog), so this is going to be a quick schmorgasbord:

John M. Ford died. This sucks. We'll be at Boskone, and try to make the auction.

[livejournal.com profile] tnajt (Dave Alway) died. This sucks more. I had spent a fair amount of time around him right before, too, ending with GaFilk (which he died on the way back from). I've got some pics up at pics.livejournal.com/mnemex including Dave pics in the GaFilk 07 and "Glimmerglass Housefilk" galleries. I need to post my GaFilk report, but that will happen when it does.

I've been doing a lot of gaming, including running a third session of my "Etheric Sea" game. This is cool. And I've been practicing harp again and using a metronome (not always at the same time).

Molly Ivins died. Taste the suckitude. I've been following her collumn for years. Not as sucky as Dave, though.

I'll be at D'Zenove this weekend (travelling overnight tonight). See all of youz who are going! I won't be bringing a harp, though (see: "air travel")

Later in the year (through the summer), I plan to make, in no particular order, Boskone, Origins, Gencon, Lunacon, FKO, Conterpoint, Dexcon, and Intercon G. Might also make Balticon, and/or Mythcon. See people there who are going.

Also, we still have two Worldcon memberships, for sale for "best offer". Because, you know, I don't feel like going to Japan.

And...that is all.

Let's talk about that Worldcon membership; I am not sure if I have one, even though I presupported seven years ago.

Keep in mind that I'm not expecting to be able to go.

I heard that Molly Ivins died of breast CA just on Wednesday. I used to enjoy reading her columns online where she savaged BushCo and the neocons.

P.S. that's a lot of conventions and a lot of potential air-travel! Do they allow you to fly with any ID, or what?

Passport is good. For domestic flights, driver's license or non-driver ID works.

Ummm... any plans for I-CON?

My sister recently got herself appointed as a Track Leader to ressurect the Filk Track there and has a couple of badges to give out for helpers... (Not really a freebie, though, she has next to no budget and really does need help)

Too much other stuff, plus I-CON is a) a schlep and b) lousy for food.

Last year, the only open filking really was on Sat night.

Also, the other reason to NOT attend... Opposite FKO this year. Next year, I-CON is in April.

c - Security guards at main entrance to ISC (main gym building) have been taking food from EVERYONE last couple of I-CONs and not allowing you to bring it in to the building.

If you bring food, LEAVE IT IN YOUR CAR.

I got suckered at Filk staff..

I am planning on giving a hand as I can. (I did staff for the last filk track leader (Lenny P.)).
