Re Gunnerkrigg court: I think I may see what you were feeling when her father showed up -- the power imbalance and simulated awkwardness/embarassment was difficult and not great. I think it's improved since then, but that's my POV; this is certainly one comic that's reinvented itself several times over its lifetime (maybe not to the degree that Questionable Content has--which started as a joke a day comic about indie rock music with a very small cast...and has turned into a romance comic about a world with liberated AIs with a rotating focus and a very large (but not always focused) cast).
