We don't, in fact, own our apartment (which means that we have to take the ACs -out- every year; something that annoys me quite a bit; I should talk to the super to see if a professional semi-permanent install might mitigate that). As it was, I was mostly dwelling on the irony that the brace -was- useful, just...not in the intended fashion.
