I've been rereading the books for His Dark Materials in hopes of actually getting to see a theatrical release this time around. The "reforging" scene is FAR later (in the third book); are you saying the subtle knife actually APPEARS in this one? (I can see that it might happen, but it would seriously change the sequencing and timing of the story.)
