Popsicles, Fudgsicles, and the like are your friends.

Take a painkiller before the surgical numbing wears off - waiting in pain for drugs to kick in is not fun.

Take pictures of yourself with chipmunk-puffy cheeks and decorate them with whiskers ;-)
